My weed trimmer hangs from the ceiling of my garage. It's been fine there for 2 years. It decided to start leaking just after my wife got her new car and leaked on the hood. There's a spot about the size of a soda can where it dripped and a streak where it ran down the hood. I've cleaned up and waxed the spot but I can see that there is still a mark on the paint. It's like the clear coat is raised a little bit. Nothing is bubbled or faded. Will this eventually go away or can I do something to fix this? Please help! I don't want to have to tell my wife that her new car now has a mark on the paint.

Gasoline is very caustic towards paint. The clear coat is likely damaged and would need to be professionally repaired.
