while stopped and awaiting a red light I hit the car in front!! NO damage was done to my car or his car but he filed a claim with my insurance!!! is this legal or frivolous?? I couldn't believe it!!
I got a letter from my INS comp that he has filed for a claim more that what I have coverage for! I called the claim dep and expressed that they should examine my car and his car to see NO damage / NONE was done and how frivolous/ridiculous this was!!!
Any ideas or comments on this please, its beyond me!!!
The days of hitting someone's bumper and not doing damage is over. Bumpers seem to take only a light hit and even then a lot could go wrong. New and expensive cars have sensors in the bumpers and a hit may knock them out. Just looking and not seeing damage means nothing.
Obviously some one wasnt stopped, either the person in front of our op decided to back up or a more likely scenario being our op didnt stop and just carelessly bashed into the car in front and is now looking to blame his actions on any one but himself.

Exactly. Cars are not like the 40s-70s anymore!
Also, a light tap can give the person a whiplash....I have seen it MANY times...they don't
even realize it for 2 days.
Symptoms: You get a headache and afterwards a stiff neck, you think will go away ..Haha,
then it doesn't!
Guys in particular will 'tough it out'...go to the gym....6 months later when their friends
tell them all they do is complain about their neck ...they finally see someone!
So don't be surprised if he sees a Chiro or Phys Ther for weeks!
So sorry. But, these things teach us in the end to be more careful..many of us
have done these things.

If you were stopped then you couldn't have hit the car in front of you. Own up to your mistakes and go through the proper insurance claim process.
Actually OP could have, but only if someone rear ended him/her. Somehow I suspect a cell phone was involved in this wreck
