With the new Jetta and Passat VW has begun to address their perception of being overpriced.

Yeah, by DEcontenting the living crap out of it. When you drive or just sit in a "new" one compared to the previous gen you QUICKLY see where the $$ went.

It's very apparent on the new Jetta's, not so much on the new Passat's. Of course, VW had a little more room to play with the Passat cost wise then they did with the Jetta which was very obviously built to a price point.

Which I find suprising considering a well equipped Jetta will soar passed the initial base price QUICKLY. I paid almost 24k for my Jetta TDI, still several thousand less than a Passat with the same drivetrain. However, the Passat in base trim at it's $19,000 pricetag included things like the soft touch dash, and climatronic HVAC...Both features which would have been fantastic on the new Jetta, especially in base form, but should have been mandatory on any of the upper trim level cars.

GTI is the only VW product I would consider buying but then I would probably go back to comparing it with the WRX.

GTI's are manufactured in Germany so I think they are a bit more reliable than other models. My sister and bro in law haved owned a Rabbit and GTI and never had reliability issues with them.

BTW looking at a new 2012 GTI for 24k with 0% apr for 60 months.

Just an update. I will be picking up my new shadow blue 2012 GTI on Tuesday. Got a good deal, got under the fair purchase price, and 0% apr. The payments are about what I was looking to pay so I am happy. As soon as I got into that car and heard that engine I knew I had to have it
