It basically is the sedan with a slightly rounded back. The Mazda3 is more vertical in the back. I never would have considered it (or a hatch), but a dealer in Southern California had really good deal on them - undercut the Honda Civic, Mazda3 and Chevy Cruise by about 3-4K in price.
That's actually a very attractive car. It actually looks like a car and not something out of the circus. Probably because at first and even second glance you don't notice it's really a hatchback. It's a pretty much sedan with a rounded trunk.
Now the Mazda 3, that Fit, Golf, the Scion one look like clown cars. The majority do. The Lancer must not be too popular here because the circus fleets is always on the roads. The must be either dirt cheaper or guys like the dorky look.

... no, it looks like a hatchback to me.

Mitsubishi just doesn't have the market presence that the car companies you listed do. I don't think Mitsu has marketed the Lancer hatch at all, which is a shame, because it is a really good-looking car that's a good size.

You're right, I just googled it. Nice looking car. I don't think I've ever seen a Lancer on the road. Where does this company sell its cars? I never see Mitsus.
That's a coupe with a hardtop, not a hatchback. It's called Corvette Coupe not Corvette Hatchback. Some people call it fastback.
That Vette from before definitely counts as a hatchback. Frankly, most of the crossover SUVs out there are just hatchbacks with jacked-up suspensions and wannabe-off-roader styling.

No, that would be Suzuki. Though Mitsu probably isn't far behind, all they've got left is the Lancer, Outlander, and the "i" battery car.
I'm 6'2'' I drive an old ford focus ZX3, it accelerates from a full stop as a champ (out-speeding everything but the fanciest cars), it handles very well, it can fit in tight spots, it's as good (or better) off road as an SUV, and most importantly I can fit very bulky things in there. There in no way no how a middle/full sized sedan can haul the things I hauled with my Ford Focus. If worse comes to worst, with little tweaking, I can sleep comfortably in my ZX3, try that in your sedan. Better yet, I bought it used for $9,500 cash 4 years ago with 37,000 miles on it, 4 years later I didn't spend a single cent on repairs of any kind. It's very versatile, powerful, easy to handle, roomy, reliable with reasonable mileage (31 miles to a gallon on the average), and it can handle icy & hilly county roads. I can't impress average chicks with that, that's true, but if it scares away your typical materialistic beatches of today, it's a big plus.
If I'd been flamed as much as the OP, I would not have come back to the thread. And if I accidentally found myself posting here, I definitely wouldn't have commented about the hatch being a factor by itself, again.

Dude, that sounds like a great car!
