It's got a 351 Cleveland bored .30 over for the rebuild, so more like a 355. Edelbrock heads, air gap intake, MSD 6 box, 750 Jet Performance stage 2 carb, blaster coil, Moroso wires, Hrmm... 3.55 gear in the back (I think) what along with the low ratio AOD tranny works out to a 4.11 at launch. Got Flowmasters, some "race type and super loud" brand" headers....ermmm just took a look..... Hooker headers....forgot we had to beat them in to make them work......... Small (,514) cam and those roller rocker things. I like roller rockers. Old Ford rockers suck.

And a Cheetah Turbo Shifter.

LOL can't see much of nothing with that big air cleaner in the way.

That ram air cleaner is awesome.

Do you have a converter? Sorry if you mentioned it before and I missed it.

I had a 9.5 billet converter from Dirty Dog Performance. Just a small, one man shop I think, but he has a great reputation. I really liked mine. He can do a converter for a stock two piece shaft setup, or one piece shaft if you want to go non-lock up. You can find cheaper converters, but I beg you not to do that. He is the most economical quality billet converters around. If you want to blow 1k+, but want the best in the industry, call CircleD.

Once you put in a stall, you NEED a quality external plate type trans cooler.

Id switch to 4.10 gears. Thats what I have in my Bird, and with an AOD, and short tires, it was still fine on the freeway.

Don't have a convertor. Was wondering about that. I drive this car every day. I got a stock convertor.

I wouldnt worry about driving it every day if you stay lock up with the two piece input shaft. There are plenty of people who say non lock up with a one piece shaft is fine to daily as well, but before you did that, I would invest in a serious external cooler, and temp gauge. Honestly, Id do that either way.

Mine was very mild with the converter, its just not what people think it will be. Mine would "flash" to 2800 or so, but drove like a stock converter if you were driving normally. Its not going to slip until the revs get high just eezing away from a light, etc. But when you need it, it's amazing. Its literally like being able to drop the clutch at 3k full throttle.

Id go with a hardened inner shaft from patc, and a Dirty Dog 9.5", and 4.10's. He doesnt sell 2800 stalls, 3500 stalls, etc. You give him your exact specs, and he builds it custom for you.

I had a mild 306 with a Comp roller cam, old school gt40 iron heads, rockers, Cobra intake, etc. A very well built AOD with baumann valve body, hardened inner shaft, the DD 9.5", 4.10s, 31 spline axles, etc. It was a fun car(87 Thunderbird), but was too mild for me. I sold the engine and trans, and got busy with my son. Havent touched it since(bout two years).
