When you went over a speed bump the rear springs would squeak. So here you got this really cool car, and fast with the 6 spd that would squeak in the grocery store parking lot.

Here's my L98 in my Jeep. 72 4 bolt 350 1053 steel crank, ZZ4 heads, Comp 210 / 214, 113 LSA .503 / .510 with 1.6 roller rockers

The 1992 and 1987 Camaro did not squeak?

They're good looking cars and had better handling than earlier models. Problem with this generation was lack of strong performance options. As said many 60s cars were 6s, but you had that big block option. Granted that can all be changed, but some people get all caught up in the appeal of a big block Camaro or Chevelle.

I have a 2000 DD and it doesn't sqeuk over bumps.

Most "squeak" issues were...

spare tire in the rear, if it wasn't centered right and put in properly the spare tire rubbed against the inner wall, causing a slight sqeuak, of rubber on metal over bumps in the interior since it was a hatchback.

Also could be attested to the rubber stops on the rear hatch not being adjusted properly just to provide slight tenison to take up the slop in the gap on the hatch. The last problem could be the bushings may have needed greasing.

Always sounded to me like the coils in the upper buckets, but you might be right. It was loud and noticeable. It was an okay car, and really fast, but that bothered me.
Funny thing, I was so used to 7000 rpm in my 69 that I hit the rev limiter for the first few months in the 2000.

Does anybody else here have a feeling that this particular generation of Camaros is making a come-back? I've seen 3 of them last week, and one very sharp late 1980s/early 1990s RS this morning on the way to work, all except one were fully restored, the one Z-28 sounded like the power-train was restored, it just needed a new paint job.

Any thoughts on this?
I haven't really noticed more gen 3 Camaros on the road these days, but it wouldn't surprise me for a couple of reasons.

Number one, most of the first-and second-generation cars have either already been snatched up or are setting in backyards sinking into the ground, not for sale because the current owners are going to fix them up "someday." So folks interested in building up a RWD V-8 sport coupe are turning toward the later models out of necessity.

And secondly, as a lot of guys approach middle age they get nostalgic for the vehicles they admired when they first started driving, and because many of them have reached a point where they can afford to spend a little money on a toy they choose to buy one of the cars that they lusted after in their youth. For a lot of guys in their 40s right now, the third-generation Camaro fits the bill.

There were rubber boots on top of the springs between the metal, you could have greased that as well. I do know it wasn't commont for people to get a garden hose fill them with grease, then put them on the coil springs and remove the rubber boots for a .5 drop of the rear. I did this on one car and never had issues('94) while I had owned 2 different '00s with the boots in and never had issues.

Even then, I think the setup is nearly 100% identical to 3rd gens.

The generous t-tops on the 1998+ models will probably make them squeak.

All 4th gen cars are t-top cars from the factory. The only difference is some sheet metal just spot welded into place, not even full beads. Structural integrity between the both is pretty negligable. Its not a 3rd gen, which were more prone to that problem.

Example, from my first 2000 Camaro.

My car did not come with T-Tops? Are you saying it could have been converted?
About the squeak? I didn't feel I should have to work on a brand new car.
