double dilemma (tail gate, Chrysler, Dodge, wiper)

So here's my dilemma, I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan (having the Caravan isn't the dilemma) the tail gate has ceased to open and now my tailgate wiper doesn't work. I've tried to get the tailgate open through the little access hole on the bottom of the door, but this time it doesn't seem to want to open. Any idea how I can fix one problem to fix another problem?

I would say Dodge the car. Just kidding. Maybe post on a Chrysler forum for better answers from those who know your car.
