The answer is no. 4-banger Tacomas and Rangers only have two doors. All four-door trucks have a V6 minimum (or I5 in some Colorados)
There ya go. What the guy is looking for is not really available. That particular combination is not going to be found.

Based on what he has indicated, I think an extended-cab S-10, Ranger, or Tacoma might be a good compromise.

The answer is YES. You can most certainly buy either an "access cab" or "double cab" Tacoma with the I4. Only the X-Runner comes standard with a V6.

Edit to add: You have also been able to get them for awhile now. I used to have quite a few double cab I4 Tacoma's in a fleet I managed. It's certianly not the most popular combination out there, but it does exist.

I stand corrected. This wasn't the case in previous years. They must have made the four cylinder available on double cabs recently.

Wouldn't any cheapo used truck qualify...doesn't sound like you'd be driving it much anyway unless by garden you mean "small forest in the backyard" or "flowers for my golf course"

The Frontier is fantastic. I don't know where that hogwash came from. I'll take a Frontier over a Tacoma any day.

The Frontier comes with 4 cylinder king cab- the rear doors are "hidden" but they are there and quite adequate. Front facing rear seats are plenty big enough for kids. I've even had grown men sit back there for short distances but then I sit way forward in the driver seat. I don't know if the crew cab (full door) versions are available with the 4 cylinder. A bonus- I've even carried small/medium kids 2 astride on the rear seats so theoretically you've got a 6 seater if kids want to bring their friends along.

Mileage is 16-18 in the city. 23-25 on the interstate, can go as high as 26-27 on the country roads at lower speeds - 40-50 mph.

Default pickup trucks & choices

Hey there: I am new to this site
I was not sure where to post this question.
I am looking for a new pickup truck.
I currently own a 1990 S-10 Durango.
Equipped with the 2.8l , 5 Spd manual, A/C
Mileage 265,000
At about 14 yrs I replaced or rebuilt several components.
Replaced-starter,water pump, radiator, cat and muffler.
Rebuilt-air pump, throttle body, brake calipers, brake hoses.
I have replaced the clutch pack 4 times.
Gone through 4 sets of tires.
Presently the engine compression is a approx. 175 psi. per cylinder.
No leaks, passed smog test.
Everything else works.
Question : how long will this truck last ?
I would like to buy a new truck with these items:
V-6 engine, ABS, Extended cab, 5 sped manual, pwr locks/win,A/C, fog lights, cruise, short bed, 2wd
I want something that gets 18+ in the city & 25+ on the hwy.
Are these reasonable MPG figures?
I want something that is more towards a base truck than a top of the line.
What are my choices and price ranges ?
Thanks,

What about a used Mid-00's era Mazda B3000 or B4000 Quad Cab?
