Not the first time. Won't be the last time. If one is so concerned abou injury at a sporting event you have two options. Option 1 get REALLY high seats so you're far away from everything. Option 2 don't go! Oh and your chances of being hit by a drunk driver on your way home from an event are probably significantly higher than an injury at a sporting event.
I've gotten hit with a baseball and a softball at different events. Doesn't stop me from going. People live on golf courses and their houses get hit with golf balls all the time. Ever see a Europe soccer game and the riots/malees? They've been having that craziness for decades and the stadiums are still packed! If you don't like it, stay home and live in a bubble.
How many other American sports injure the fans to the point where they need to go to the hospital? European soccer riots are caused by the fans, not the sport. A baseball to your noggin, while it might explain a lot, isn't going to send you to the emergency room in an ambulance. Your effort to change the subject was almost valiant, but in the end utterly stupid.
Eh, certain activities involve risk. I enjoy airshows, despite planes occasionally plowing into the spectators. I couldn't care less about racing, but for those who do, let them be. A life that is risk free is not living.
This is a serious question. After all, there are a number of racing specs and series out there, all of whom claim manufacturers should participate because it helps to advance automotive technologies. But while FIA's various races specify 4 cylinder engines with direct injection, turbocharging, advanced transmissions and suspensions, NASCAR is specifying pushrod V8 engines, recirculating ball steering, 4 speed manual transmissions (not 5, 6, or 8, four, and carburetors up to this year, when they finally adopted port fuel injection as the market moves on to DI.
So tell me, other than putting really fast relatively primitive cars into a small box so they can crash into each other and sell concessions, what purpose does NASCAR serve?
Nascar got its name when two guys with muscle cars were stopped at a light. One looked at the others car and said hey, thats a nascar.
They other guy said thanks, you have a nascar too. The light changed and they took off racing.
