Hi,
i have a 2009 acura TL (50k miles) with original Michelin tires that are visibly worn.....on saturday, my front driver side tire went almost flat after we had a really cold day....i pumped it back up and i'm now driving on them again.
A new set of the same tires (4) installed is 1050 out the door.....but, would you recommend i replace now, or ride it out for as long as i haven't broken down?

Find out why it is losing air and if it can be repaired. (It may be flat already...)
Decide if new tires are needed based on the above; tread remaining on all tires; your driving style/requirements.
Consider a cheaper but similarly capable tire.
It sounds like you should visit a couple tire dealers. Be sure one is an independent/small chain type place that has been in business for many years.
Being "broken down" can be hazardous to your health (and that of the people near you) if in the wrong place and time. Bad tires are dangerous...
First thing you need to do is forget the Michlin tires, there are great tires, and about $600 dollars more than you need to spend. You can get good tires for $400 or less than will accomplish the same thing.
Next, if the tires you now have are almost worn out, just decide if your family's life is worth a new set of tires. Save money on seat covers or a paint job, not a safety item....

Can you direct me to a place that has that kind of price?
i've called 14 places and the price i gave you was the cheapest. there are cheaper tires that total about 940, but for 110 more i can go with Micheline tires.
400 for 4 tires means 100 bucks a tire and 0 installation/balancing. again, i'd like to hear where you're getting this info from.
ps. tire size (in case the information you gave is actually valid) is P245/50/R17
How worn is "visibly worn." With that kind of mileage, I would imagine they are probably ready for replacement.
Tires are a huge factor in your safety as well as others. If they have an unsafe level of remaining tread, dry rot, or other problems, I do not think I would play games.
We experience something similar every winter.
As the air cools in contracts.
When winter sets in we have to add air to our tires.
A well worn set of tires also gives the best millage.
Your millage will go down a little with a new set of tires.
