Actually it might mean that the rear calipers are progressively locking up. If a car has been driven hard, it's the front brakes that will go first, not the rear. And unless the car is older than its 20K miles suggest, the transmission leak should be covered under warranty. For that matter, so should the rear brakes unless it really is caused by standard wear-and-tear (seems doubtful to me).
The car was 5 years old. Front breaks already replaced. Rear breaks needed replacing at 19,600 miles. Out of warranty. He drove the car hard.
Essentially, when you call a car "consigned", that's because it's being marketed and sold by someone other than the owner for a fee.
It's most likely that a "consigned" car would be sold by a dealer, but it could be sold by an auction house or other third party (like a friend or relative of the owner).
what kind of car is this with the worn rear brakes at 20K? i've heard some noise from MK5 VW owners about really fast wearing rear brakes; most of them are attributing it to overly aggressive EBD shifting alot of bias to the rear. and they are replacing rears around 20-30K miles...
as far as the trans leak goes, what about warranty coverage?

Sounds like the speedometer was reset or replaced.
