I have loved and adored convertibles ever since my
Dad bought one when I was eight years old.
I have my old 2005 Seebring Convertible for years now, never had a moments worth of trouble from it,
and wouldn't trade it for anything.
While nothing looks dumber than a convertible in a snowbank, nothing feels better than driving top-down on Bayshore Blvd or Ocean Drive or Gulf Boulevard.
There are great pics on this thread of VERY nice convertibles, but we've had a lot of fun in budget convertibles--PT Cruiser, Chrysler 200--and I'm pricing inexpensive older low mileage Vettes and Miatas. To get behind the wheel of a convertible on a sunny day is like a day of vacation compressed into the length of your trip.
I've gone back to look at the photo of yours a few times as it didn't look quite right to me and I couldn't work out why. I just got it, the US model has 4 round headlamps, the European model had two rectangular ones.

Those cursed round SAE haedlights ruined the look of many European cars. They did work with the SL pretty well, but what they did to the Capri was a crying shame.

BTW, one of the things I especially appreciate about Saab convertibles is they make a fairly robust top featuring 3 layers... an acrylic twill weave outer fabric, an insulating rubber middle, and a cotton inner layer. Even in winter it seems to insulate pretty well.
Are there many other 'verts out there with substantial, multi-layered ragtops? Although IMHO, the convertibles with retracting hardtops are "cheating"!

The last two generations of Mustangs have padded linings and VW had them 30 years ago. At this time I imagine more convertibles do have it than not.

I believe this was because at that time, the USA did not allow halogen headlights. The Europeans were forced to redesign using with sealed beam incandescents.
