Lazy? Guess you missed that part about two miles of snow and mud to get into and out of our property. No to mention water doesn't wash so well when it's below freezing.
You're right, you guys are the only rural place in America that has snow, ice and mud. My bad.
Newer MBs are built to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Some people call them new money or new credit. They have no clue what a real S class is all about. They just want to be seen in something expensive.
Those older mercs are beautiful, especially in black (without tinted windows).
I think the cost of repairs is what scares me away from BMW or Audi or Merc. I keep my cars at least 10 years and have had people tell me that the cost is astronomical going into a dealership just for routine maintenance ( are indies that much cheaper??).
Don't be scared, just find a good indie mechanic and treat your car well. My M5 is supposed to be ungodly expensive to maintain, but 11 years and 130,000 miles later it's no big deal. It helps if you get manual transmission, too.
Personally, I'm glad BMWs have lost some prestige in the eyes of some people because I just don't care about that. If Ford sold a rear-drive V8 Falcon here with a manual transmission I'd be all over that!
This day and age where a loaded Toyota can cost over $50k it's not about perceived money/image anymore (at least for those who aren't ignorant). I think all luxury brands have their plusses and minuses. Personally I like that I can throw my 6000lb BMW SUV around a corner at speed and it won't skip a beat (electronic dampers). Can say the same for Porsche (and they're more reliable). Merc, not so much in the performance+handling dept. They are pretty much just better quality (materials/craftsmanship) Hondas in my view. Same reliability, which is good (better than BMW). Audi is more about style, less reliability.
Just picked up a 2009 Mercedes E class (e350) Black on Black very nice car. It reminds me of a bigger version of my VW Passat's, which is a huge compliment to MB & VW for nearly copying MB's design almost perfectly.
Having both an MB & A 2002 BMW 3 series vert I have to say they are both completly diffrent cars. Ia ctually prefer driving the BMW over the MB.
Lexus is amazing. Come on guys, its the luxury of not fixing it! best feature that Lexus offers.
