I'm thinking of selling my truck privately soon, it's a 2004 Nissan Frontier XE with 105000 miles. I have ALL the service records from 0 miles and interior and exterior is in great condition (for a 10 year old vehicle) *except* that I have a dent on the right front quarter panel and the right door. This happened a few years ago when I forgot to engage the gear on a hill and it rolled a bit jumped the sidewalk and hit a tree on the sidewalk it was very slow speed as the tree was right there but obviously enough to put a dent in the fender.
Is discounting the car 10% ($600) from Edmunds TMV fair enough for the damage (see pics). The body shop wants $1500 to fix the dent which is ridiculous as the entire car itself is worth $6000 per Edmunds TMV What should be a fair price for my vehicle?
You can try to sell it for 10% under book value, but it's not apt to happen, especially knowing that it has $1500 worth of damage. On the other hand, who knows?
I love it when sellers state it will only cost you $XXX to fix it and have a $XXXXXX vehicle.
If the best dollar value is important to you, fix it before you sell it! As a buyer I would offer no more than $2000 total if the rest of the truck was decent. The dent tells me as a buyer you did not care for the truck properly.

WTF? I just told you I have all the service records, are you slow at reading perhaps? If you can't understand what that means I don't know how to explain it better!!! I was trying to guage fair value for the car based on the dent... what is your problem in life dude? Why are you behaving like an immature child??

If there are a bunch of them on the market and they're not selling, more than repair cost. If only a few are available, less than repair cost.
The reason I asked is that I can fix it myself for $300 so I was wondering if it was worth the effort or just discount the car a bit.
The damage is purely cosmetic in nature because it is a superficial dent. The OEM quarter panel online costs about $85. The panel pops right off the studs and there are a few screws that's it. I need to paint match the panel at a place, perhaps Meineke will do it for a couple hundred.

I have to get it painted though, I will call Meineke and ask them if they can paint match it...I bet they can.
The door is tricky as the sheet metal is thick, I may be able to make it a bit better..I have to see what access is there once I pop the fender off.
