I never understood why people go bonkers over getting limo service. What's the hype? I think limo, I think proms and other young people events.

I think if I needed a chauffeured vehicle a standard regular full size luxurycar would be just fine.

Its all about status and the "image" of arriving in a stretch limousine.

When I was a kid once in awhile I used to see this guy who was driven around in a Ford station wagon. I figured he must have had really big dough, you know, to not give damn about what kind of car he was driven around in.

I was in a limo once...at a funeral. My family made me ride in it, against my will (you know how families do that). There are few things I hate more than being a passenger in a motor vehicle.

I don't get it. If people want to be driven around, call a cab or something. Large cars are generally compensation for something else anyway.

I took my parents to dinner for their 50th wedding anniversary, along with 11 others. We all went together in a limo...it was perfect. I don't see one thing wrong with that.

Using them to keep a group together makes sense or to keep that same group from possibly drinking and driving is even better.

The wife and I will get a limo, town car or suv with chauffeur in Vegas from the airport as it's very comparable in price to a filthy cab and you can stop on your way to the hotel if you want for the same price!

Agreed on car service. I use it often, and in my own case, I'm really just looking to ride from the airport to my house, or whatever. If there is a driver waiting, and the driver has a car with a reasonably comfortable seat, and the car doesn't smell like puke, or the driver doesn't smell like he showers once a year whether he needs it or not, then I'm good.

IMO, limos are for "big events". Just part of a night out or whatever. Not my thing, but some people get into that, and if they like it, good for them. I'd rather drive my own nice car, but that's just me. I guess it's a good arrangement when people want to go out in a larger group, and not have to worry about parking or designated drivers. And maybe they want to pour a few drinks enroute.

I worked an event last year where there was a ton of wealthy people for a Black & White ball. I seldom saw a limo pull up, it was usually town car or either own fancy car (I'm assuming).

I agree with the OP why people think they are something great.

A regular full size luxury car is far more comfortable.

The only time I have been in a full size stretch limo was when in Houston and we had to get sixty people downtown and the person organising it arranged for five or six Town Car limos to come to our house where we had the pre party drinks.

Unless you were on the back bench seat it was really uncomfortable, sitting sideways with a bar running part length of the car restricting leg room.

Fun for kids, but not my cup of tea.
