So I've decided since I like trucks, and since I have a family of 2 kids plus the spouse, a quad cab truck would be the way to go.

What I'm looking for is something with 4WD, and something that is all around a good vehicle, doesn't burn too much fuel (can't be any worse than my current 15 hwy/20 city truck), it doesn't have to do hardly any towing, a/c is a must, I don't need leather seats at all (in fact, vinyl seats and a rubber floor mat would be idea).....

Anyways what would my options be? I'm in the market now for a truck.

Thanks

Probably any of the Big 3, they do seem to do trucks well. You know, of course, that the fans of a particular model will support their's through thick, thin and torture.

it may not mean anything but down here we see a ton of Tundra and Ram 4dr trucks; not as much for other brands.

But if a more basic truck is desired, any who offers a "work truck" version may be the way to go. Though finding one on a lot (new or used) may be difficult as seems most out there are sold loaded up

Tacoma Crew Cab if a midsize is big enough for you.

Personally, I own a Tundra extended cab (not crew cab) and the backseat is plenty big. Four grown men ride in it frequently without being crowded.

A note about the extended cab F150. Unless they've changed it a bit the rear seat is uncomfortable if you're much over 5'6". The seat back is straight up with no tilt.

If your willing to go used, give a '03-'05 Dodge Ram Mega Cab with a Cummins a try. You might not need a 3/4 ton but they don't really ride that much worse and with the Cummins diesel you will be getting 20 ish mpg . Don't really know what the gassers are getting . Anything after '05 has much more emissions BS to deal with.
If new , I'd stick with the Ram. Don't know if they still offer a Mega cab anymore though.

And really, all the OEM's make good trucks. I just prefer the Dodge and the Cummins.

Ugh, I can't believe I'm saying this. But it sounds like you might want to check out the Honda Ridgeline. It's 4 doors, slightly better on gas. I think you can get it with a rubber floor and it can't tow much.

He says he wants a truck, but dosnt want it to do any truck type work, So the Honda may a decent option. From his description it sounds like a Crossover/Mini van would fit his need much better then a truck. Seems like he wants an elevated driving postion, room for 5 people and their stuff and awd/4wd
