I used the Permatex too. BUT be careful. When I last replaced the mirror in my '95 F150, I followed the directions to a T. I sat back, then a few seconds later I heard some creaking, and the windshield split from top to bottom in a nearly perfectly straight line. I was told that the heat from the catalyst caused the windshield to expand too quickly, blah, blah, blah.
When I say be careful, I don't have any suggestions on how to do that. I didn't do anything wrong, but the windshield still cracked.
We resolved that problem by placing a small furniture pad, cut to size, over the contact point between the mirror and glass on the outside. You could probably use other material to reduce the amount of sun melting the glue but the sticky furniture pad worked. It also made it easier to identify our car when parked next to a similar one.
I had an accident few three months ago, during this damages some parts and fell off my mirror. I took my car at the garage, but in few days again mirror fall down. I was ordered Loctite Rear-View Adhesive Kit at https://rearviewmirrorglue.com/ website. And it works. I was successful to reattaching mirror. You can also try this adhesive, you can also get good result.
Over the years, I have had to remount quite a few windshield mounted mirrors, and have had marginal success with the Permatex glue you get at auto parts stores. The mirror would fall off in a few days. I learned that it has a shelf life, and only fresh ones work. So, I would call Permatex and they would send me a replacement free from their stock, and those always held.
The stuff at Autozone and other parts stores sits on the shelf for too long and becomes ineffective.
I don't know the exact temperature that those kits will work but they will not perform properly in cold temps.
