I could do without the door clicker on my 2012 Malibu. And the cheap vinyl moldings down the door. And the plastic bumpers. I miss the real steal bumper that could be recycled without using crude oil.... And when FM radios were an option I never bought one.

I can do without leather! It gets hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and eventually cracks and fades. I prefer premium cloth.

I could do without an engine any bigger than what I need to accelerate safely onto the freeway and maintain 70-80 MPH. Very few people need more than 100 HP or the ability to go more than 90MPH.

Right you are! Too many people are compensating for something or other.

All these cars trucks & SUVs with 300, 400, even 500hp now and all they do is sit in traffic wasting fuel.

"But I need enough power to keep up with everyone else!" Yet another zero-sum game.

I have a mere 4 cylinder in my Malibu and it will probably do a 100 mph with the light weight of the car and the overdrive gearing. I could do without the Onstar system I didn't subscribe to. Hate it talking to me when I touch the steering wheel in the wrong spot. Buttons are in a bad place.

Dont be naive. There are more reasons than the love of horsepower to have more than 100hp. Like how most cars weigh more than 2600#. Or do you think that a 100hp 4500# minivan is a good idea? The vw type 1 only had 37hp and only an act of god let it do 60mph. The dmc-12 had a 115hp v6 and wouldnt do 75- that is a sports car mind you.

The built in GPS is a waste as the bluetooth and all the "my Ford" and other computer stuff. I really like cruise control and would get adaptive if it ever became available on moderately priced cars. The sunroof is somewhat of a waste as well. And the leather seats are high maintenance in this part of the country as they do crack and split. They look worse than the velour old fashioned seats which would hold up better.

Don't need more than the air/heat; radio; a big enough engine to get me to where I want to go and be able to accelerate if need be to avoid issues from other drivers; power locks are fine; automatic cause I can't drive a stick; never leather seats and I'm good~
