I hate it that every time there's a bit of humidity here and the temperature drops, whether it's night time or before, during, and after rain, my windshield frequently fogs up and I have to turn the A/C on to defog it. Anybody have any homemade tricks that would prevent my windshield from fogging up so easily?
Use a towel to wipe it off.
What's wrong with using the AC defogger for 60 seconds?
Besies a towel, eventually it comes back. Wiping it does nothing. It's annoying having to constantly turn the A/C on and off. Turn it on, it defogs. Soon as I turn it off the windshield starts to fog up again. I don't want to have it on constantly because it cuts down my gas mileage significantly. I like my 35+ mpg

Humidity is a fact of life here in south Louisiana. First off clean your windshield. That hazy film windshields develop makes it fog up more quickly. I use Invisible Glass, located in the automotive department. Use newspaper instead of paper towels. Don't forget the outside of your windshield. Do both the front and the back. Next, when you turn on your defrost/fog, raise the temperature setting to no less than half way. Leaving it on cool will cause condensation to form on the windshield.
You need work on your AC. It should not effect mileage all that much unless something is wrong with the compressor.
You can use heat instead. Heat will eventually defog the windshield, just takes longer.
Most of the fog is coming from your breath. You could just not breathe.
OPen the window and stick your head out.
He could use heat but many (most?) cars engage the compressor in the windshield defrost position- unless you're suggesting just turning the floor heater or vent heater on - not in the defrost position.
