i totally forgot they came in a pillared sedan form in addition to hardtop form. the pillared sedans are generally uglier than the hardtops on a car many already perceive to be an eyesore...
Yeah, I pretty much like all of the hardtop sedans instead of the pillared sedans of each model back then (when available)... same goes for GM and FMC cars. Up until the downsize of the full-size cars in the late 70s, hardtop sedans were available... after that, hardtops were gone and it was strictly pillared sedans.
The only exceptions I can think of was that all of the 4dr Lincolns in the 70s were pillared sedans and the big Cadillac Fleetwood Broughams were pillared sedans only.
1973 Lincoln Continental and below that the Continental Town Car and Town Coupe
the 1972 Marquis was the quietest car CR's ever tested. so id bet those Lincolns posted by tennesee held to that record. I wonder is there any actual difference between the comfort and ride of a Lincoln and a Marquis? or a Cad and an Electra225. but if i had to guess i could confidently say that an Imperial was quieter than a New Yorker
God those cars are big. Wow. Rear fender skirts too!
BTW, 'full hub caps' are called wheel covers
That was when "full-sized" cars actually were full-sized!
