I know there are a lot of Americans who pledge to only buy American cars, they say they do not like contributing to car companies from Japan or Korea. Then there are others who only buy foreign cars because they believe American cars are of poor quality.

Which group are you? Or are you both? Why do you buy foreign or domestic? Just trying to get into the human psyche behind car buying.

I only consider some Asian makes. Detroit cars are absolutely awful in reliability and dependability. European cars are expensive to own and maintain.

I will buy Toyota only. In the '70s I had two VWs, and both served me well, but after getting a Toyota 5 speed Celica GT in the early '80s, I've since stayed with Toyota.

I would prefer to buy American BUT as was said, the quality of many if not most domestic builds has plummeted in recent years. My GM SUV had some major work last year ($2500+) and I took it as the vehicle's death rattle. A similarly configured new model would have cost $55K. I'm not going to spend that much on a GM. For a little more, I was able to get a Benz. My wife is driving a Lexus which we're well pleased with. In terms of maintenance, you're going to get screwed no matter what sign is hanging on the dealer - domestic or foreign. Once they're out of warranty, I have local shops who can provide excellent service.

considering many cars now are built in the US, and as their costs continue to rise, i'm more concerned with the overall quality and value i'm getting for my hard earned $$. Each manu can build a solid ride, and each can have their ones that arent so much.
Over the years i've gotten past the "buy union made" or "imports are better" arguments some try to make. Whatever vehicle best fits my needs and wants at the time is what goes in the garage, which currently contains a Honda & a Ford.

I Prefer American esp full size Trucks and RWD American cars The iconic cars like the 03-04 terminator Cobra was not really much different then GT but for bang for the buck it was awesome.

same with the LS1 Camaro and Tran-Am With Both came with a T-56 6-speed Maunual tranny and were both Terrible interior wise but made up for it in performance per doller were they along with the Corvette are
able to put performance of high end sports cars that cost twice as much.

Now I admire the Japanese and German cars since they are refined and also have their ups a downs in fact Only fiat owned dodge is one brand I will stay away from if it is a redabadged Fiat sold in north america and a new car outside of jeep and Ram Dodge has terrible cars and crossover CUVs.

I have bought 3 Hondas (1 is Acura), but my next car will probably be a Ford.

Whats 'more' Domestic, a Ford built in Mexico, a Toyota built in San Antonio or a Hyundai built in Alabama?
