Not wanting to hi jack this thread but where do you get one of those high yield savings accounts?
Lol.....to do that, we have to "Welcome Back, Carter". And I don't EVER want to go back there again. Chances are if you're making 17% on your CDs, something's up.
Definitely pass on the warranty, but like others have mentioned, have a THOROUGH inspection done. And hopefully the owner can produce receipts for any work he did -- that would be a huge plus.
No---many of those warranties are full of loopholes, and those extended warranties are nothing more than a perk for the firm marketing them as well as the auto dealership pushing them, complete with a profit margin approaching 75%.
I alway's pass on warranties and have never been bitten by not having one on a used vehicle. That is until last year, I have to put a $3000 transmission in a used vehicle that we had only owned for a year. Although with some of the luck I've had this past year, it probably wouldn't have covered the trans anyways.
I would get a extended warranty just not from them.I got a extended warranty from my credit union and it was only 600.00 dollars. It was for and additional 60,000 miles after the manufacture warranty ended. That warranty ended up saving me $4200 dollars on my POS Dodge Durango
Call your Bank or local credit union.
