Everybody's your friend when you own a pickup We own a sedan, SUV, Pick-Up, Muscle Car, Motorcycle. Excluding the Muscle Car, if push came to shove and we could only have 1 vehicle, it would be the Pick-Up.
Any & every person is more than welcome to drive whatever they want to drive.
But people should also stop being so pissy and judgmental about what everybody else drives. If the OP were ever to see me driving my 4x4 truck, it'd most likely be as I was driving down the street with no load in the box. He'd get all snotty about "these stupid people who drive around with these huge empty trucks." What he WOULDN'T see is, half hour later, me going back home with 3,500 lbs of retaining wall block in the box.
Drive what you like, like what you drive, and just shut up about what everyone else drives.
Better yet, don't respond you the question in the first place, if it bothers you so much.
Its all about image and trying to portray yourself as being wealthy and more powerful.
Its silly but true.
This isnt the case for all people, but I think a lot of them.
A truck to look "wealthy & powerful"? If anything, I think maybe to look macho and tough.
Folks attempting to look wealthy & powerful might be more inclined to lease a Mercedes, Lexus or BMW. Example: real estate salesperson.
I'd say most are driven by people that really need them such as contractors or people that have toys (motorcycle, quad, boat) that they have to tow. Some just like the look and image of the big lifted despite the higher maintenance costs and poor gas mileage. The latter are usually guys in their 20's who have multiple forearm tats and still dress like they did when they were in high school.
