Chrysler, when bought by Mercedes-Benz around the turn of the century dropped the use of the Pentastar logo. By then Chrysler wasn't using it much already. So even if keys had been unique anymore, they would have likely stopped using that shape anyway.
They started using the Pentastar as a logo again starting in 2007.

That is for Challengers only, the Charger/300 has no place to insert an ignition key, nor is the start button removable. The key in the fob is for unlocking the car only.
Chrysler hasn't used the Pentastar on their keys since the 1980s. The head of the key to my 1990 Dodge pickup is sort of shaped like home plate and is coated with rubber. I'm pretty sure that my 1983 pickup had the Pentastar on the key. So it apparently went away somewhere in between those years, but I don't have a clue as to when.
I just remembered, I had a 1985 Plymouth Caravelle for awhile and it had the Pentastar on the key. So that narrows it down to going away between 1986 and 1989.
My 2000 Dodge Neon had a pentastar on the smart key. It was about the early 2000's when that all started to really disappear. I have brought back the pentastar on all my currently owned Chrysler products. I have the small Pentastar emblem on the lower right front fender just like back in the 60's and early 70's. Had one on my 2000 Dodge Neon and have one on my 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona. The Pentastar emblem can still be seen on some of the parts on the new Chrysler vehicles. (Like embedded in the plastic parts, the windows, etc.)

Old? This thread looks to have been made on 09-13-2013. That was four days ago lol.
It's been a long time since the old style Chrysler all metal keys were in use.
Prior to the all-fob such as the current Charger/300, the "key" still had a metal key with the remote button fob at the top, all as one unit.
