I was at the local grocery store parking lot today for an errand. This is the type of parking lot where the slots are angled, so you can only drive in 1 direction. Well, here I am on a lazy Sunday meandering through the lot to my spot when I see a 70-something older female driver in a Toyota Camry.....driving the wrong way. I just sit there for a bit & gesture to her that she's driving the wrong way. She doesn't say or do anything & we just sit there for a few seconds before she flips me the bird. That's right: an older Camry driver flipping me the bird. The people around us who are putting groceries in their cars just stare at her incredulously. I slowly inch forward & to the side & both of us manage to wheedle through unscathed. But man, what a piece of work!

This seems to happen to me once every two years. It's always funny to me how self-righteous these people are & how pissed off they get when I tell or signal them that they're driving the wrong way & how they act as though they expect me to get out of THEIR way. Ridiculous.

Have you encountered such parking lot ragers? How have you reacted? And if you haven't yet encountered such individuals, how do you feel you would react if you do?

MEH, I pay them fools no mind....actually find their idiocy quiet fuuuunnnneeee! The doped-out Stinkbillies/Methbillies in my neck of the woods love to tailgate me, as opposed to choosing a different lane and going around, shocking......I am going the speed limit. Like anyone in Methadelphia has a huge need to get anywhere in that huge of a hurry.

The OP seems to have a lot of these types of confrontations.

I wouldn't call once every 2 or 3 years "a lot".

I had one of those drivers coming out a one-way entrance road - and that was the ONLY way I could get into the parking lot. Well she kept waving me forward - wanting me to drive into the exit road (instead of her driving out of the one way entrance and going on her way so I could then enter the parking lot the correct way).

And she kept insisting that I should drive into the exit road! They are wrong and will keep insisting they are right???

Anyway I finally got out of my car, pointed to the one way sign behind her car, and told her to read it. She then proceeded to do a U-turn and drive into the exit road.

I see more of this every day. Or maybe I've just become more aware of it for some reason.

A few days ago I experienced OP's problem as well. I could have moved to the side but that would have made for a very narrow pass, and given how poorly the other driver had been performing up to that point I didn't want to take that risk. She waved at me to move aside for her, and seemed really unhappy when I picked up my phone to check emails. Someone leaned into her window, and I guess told her she was going the wrong way. She was still waving and yelling as she nearly backed out into cross traffic.

I've seen this kind of stuff happen and a lot of the time the driver doing something screwy is happily chatting away on their cell phone.

Why did you make some sort of gesture toward the elderly woman and why did you not get out the way? If you did that to me, I would have taught you a lesson about parking lot rage as I do all the time. I'll drive whatever way I want in a parking lot.
