The demise of the big ole Cadillac’s and Lincoln’s is what did it in.
Whitewalls just looks plain ugly on any modern vehicle EXCEPT for the old school luxury rides because without them, they look horrible.
It’s like wearing a nice suit without dress shoes, it just looks wrong.
I have whitewalls for my 94 Cadillac Fleetwood which looks great on it, and need them to stand out, however they just don’t look right on smaller Deville. Same goes for 90’s Town Cars, they look perfect with the WW, but starting in 2000’s with a new more rounded body style, they would look out of place.
Ww are still in high demand among the classic car world, but you can only find them online these days. You can’t go to your local tire shop anymore and order a set, those days are history unfortunately.

Not completley true. In certain sizes (75 series sidewall) Hankook H724 tires are whitewall. So are certain Cooper's. But they are the narrow whitewalls, not Coker Wide Whites or anything like that. The Hankooks look "right" on my 79 Thunderbird.
They scream Detroit tackiness at its finest! You also need large gaudy chrome bumpers and a vinyl roof for white wall tires....something....something.....something, I hate America....something something....tacky.....something something redneck....blah blah blah...
I have fond memories of washing my parents' cars in the 1970s and 80s. I'm not sure, but I think that the white walled tires phased out in the early 80s. What happened?
They were a pain in the *** to clean and they looked like crap when they got dirty, which was all the time.

I can clean the whitewall tires in about 15-20 minutes on my cars. It takes longer to wash the car!

Disc brakes were available during the whitewall era. My '69 Cadillac had front disc brakes.
