Thank you for your help, I'll check those things (that I can) tomorrow.

The temperatures lately when it has been running have been between about 28F and 40F.

OBD2 reports back a coolant temperature peaking (when I've been watching it - I rode in it earlier today) at about 208F and a intake temperature similar to the ambient temperature. The car has come close to the red mark on the coolant temperature gauge in the summer, though, which I suspect may very well be part of the problem.

Just a correction, it is not stuck on VENT. I only meant to say that when I have it on heat it acts like it's on vent.

208 is plenty toasty to blow hot air. If it is close to over heating in the summer then it could be a bunch of things. Did you have the O2 codes then too?

High water temp causes:

Small/big leak from the radiator
bad radiator cap
Water pump
Low radiator fluid
Stuck tstat
head gasket (check oil to see if milky and under bottom of oil cap for white foam)
fan not coming on or operating at full power

A bit later, but thank you for the responses!

The heater problem was remedied by a change of antifreeze. Hopefully this is not like my '00 Malibu which needed the entire intake manifold gasket replaced.

I cleared the error codes. We'll see what it gets for gas mileage from now on.
