Not sure why I do this, but I try and keep my gas tank full as much as possible. The reason I do this is because since I am from FL I remember in 2004 when we were struck with 4 hurricanes within a 2month span, getting gas was almost impossible when people were panicking. If you had a full tank you can just get out as quickly as possible and not worry about waiting in line, pushing and shoving and possibly getting violent over gas. This is also useful in case of a zombie apocalypse or other natural disaster/war etc.... Maybe secretly Im prepping for "doomsday". Just wanted to see if anyone else did this.
Nope. There's plenty of advanced notice for large storms. I'll fill up a few days before (compared to the people who wait last minute). Otherwise, it's a waste of time to constantly be going to the gas station.
Its a challenge for me to see how far I can go on a tank of gas. I know when that low gas light comes on much farther I can go and I I try to even push that sometimes. I try to only fill up about once a week...I drive about 80 miles a day and to try and keep my tank full would be more of a hassle for me.

Ditto. I fill the tank till it shuts off at the nozzle. Then I drive until the "low fuel" light on the dash comes on. Then I switch the display on the trip computer over so that it shows "miles until empty" and I drive until I have less than 10 miles left.
For example, I have a 50 mile round trip commute for work. I started out this morning and within 5 miles the "low fuel" light came on. By the time I got to work, the display said I have 30 miles left before I run out of gas. So, that should cover me enough that I can get home and get gas at the station 3 miles from my house.
I like to have plenty of gas in my car, as well. When I get down to half a tank, I fill up. I never want to be stranded somewhere, and with my little car, half a tank can get me a long way.
I treat fill ups like haircuts. Push them out as long as possible. Most of the time I fill up when the low fuel light comes on (about two gallons left). If I am on the highway with long stretches between known gas stations I'll fill up more often.

LOL - love this, it's such a guy thing! My husband did this all the time and it drove me nuts. That said, not being a guy, I hate going to the gas station and so do many of the women I know. I buy gas when the tank is low. Around here, we get reward points for gas dependent on how much we spend at the grocery store. The other day I filled up with regular and got 30 cents off each gallon. Since its a one-time discount that would have been wasted on just a partial tank.
Agree with watching the weather forecast and filling up accordingly.
