No. I enjoy driving, it relaxes me. I don't even enjoy being a passenger, I trust my own skills more than anyone else's.
And I'm certainly not about to put my safety and others' under the control of Google or whoever.
Maybe if they took a series of these self-directed cars and strung them together, like if all the people in them were going to the same place. They could even build special roads just for these strung-together cars, with a special width that will only fit these kinds of cars. The people in the strung-together cars could then appoint the person in the front car to make sure they got to the destination, while the others could read the paper or do whatever. Someone with a larger car might leave some room for others to swing over and get a snack or something.
This might really be the start of something big.
building special roads = huge taxpayer cash
i think they should be implemented in the future...the google car has been driving around by itself now and has had 3 accidents to date...none of which were its fault
if it equals safety then of course id be all for it, people who like to drive can take there cars to the tracks if they wanted to drive by themselves.
I don't enjoy driving. I see it as wasted time so if I could delegate my driving chores to a computer while I do something else it would be an improvement in my view.
I would absolutely get one because it seems like everything I've read about them has praised the safety of them. Plus imagine being able to nap or relax and enjoy coffee while driving. OR I could see it being great for college students who drink heavily - they wouldn't have to worry about drinking and driving. If the car drives itself, just hop in and it'll take ya home.
Just watched the evening news and they were at the auto show highlighting the "self driving car" innovations. I am wondering if you would buy one? Personally I would LOVE it. If I could get from point "A" to point "B" while doing other things it would be great. Imagine a 50 mile commute that would let you eat breakfast and shave on the way...
A self-driving car... my lawyer would have a field day in court with that one!
