It's not a bad car. The 2005+ Spectra's were decent and fixed most of the complaints with the older models. The Spectra5's were always competitive in their class and had decent reliability. One good thing is that they have really not held their value very well against their competitors, so you can get a great deal. Just remember that the 10 year / 100k mile warranty is NOT transferable so don't bank on that as being "insurance" against a future failure. Personally, I've always found the Mazda3 wagon and Honda Fit to be much better choices in that class.

I assume you're talking about late-model Spectras - and they are a solid little economy car.
