A buddy who owned an 80's Carrera something or other and raced it says they did. I've been in a few and swear I remember one or two that did not. He says I just saw the seat folded down. I trust his view more than mine but I'm curious.

Most do. Many of the GT2/ GT3 etc variety do not. Although they are so small that many times like your friend said with the seat backs folded down it would be easy to kistake a 4 seater a 2 seater.

None of the GT2 or GT3 cars have a backseat from the factory, even though the body of the car is identical to either the regular Carrera or Turbo models that do have seats. They've just been removed, have different carpet with no holes cut in it for mounting hardware, and a roll bar installed.

For the cars that do have the rear seat, they are easily removed (removed mine, since no one ever sits back there.)

Thanks McKinney, I would have sworn all 911s were built as 2+2 (although the rear seats are rather small and obviously only for occasional use).

The "wells" are there in the GT2/GT3 and a couple kids could still sit there but there is no actual seat/seat belt.

The vast majority of them are. I don't know what the total production numbers are for the GT2 and GT3, but it's a pretty small percentage when you factor in how many of the Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera 4s, Turbo, and Turbo S models are out there, which all have the back seats.

You'd have to take out the roll bar first for anyone to sit back there.

Ummm......no. Plenty of GT2/3s on eBay right now with no roll bars.

Even saw a GT3 4.0 with no roll bar!
