Well, from 1907-1987 it was the DADA (Detroit Auto Dealers Association) Show. In 1987 they decided to make it an international event, which basically meant inviting all manufacturers around the world to participate. They picked the name "North American" because they wanted the show to be seen as having precedent over the "*insert city name here* International Auto Show" that happened all over the world. Basically, the name was chosen as the intent was to have it be the premier auto show in North America, the world's largest car market.

I'm watching the hatchback wars and its good to see how they've increased in popularity just like sedans did a few years back. The 2015 Honda Fit looks like it will be a big success and the Kia Soul is already garnering strong sales.
The car I'd most like to own would be the Chevy Impala and SS.

That was one of my favorites and overall probably the one that I was most surprised that I liked. Both the Freeflow and Nismo concept were very well done and it looks like it will be a fun little car.

Holy cow! I didn't even see those! They're like the Old School rally cars in NISMO trim! This is really going to open up my options when I want to buy a car. Is this Nissan's BRZ fighter? I'll have to really look into this one!

That's what it's being billed as. Basically a modern take on the Datsun 510. Engines are expected to be sub 2.0L I4's with turbos. The cars were reportedly designed to be as light as possible, but there is no word on anything concrete for a production model, though they have apparently said that they will build it.

This is the downside to all the manufactures take on their FRS/BRZ fighters. Toyota hyped the crap out of it for like 17 years. They knew from all of the hype everyone was giving it that when they finally produced it, it was going to sell.

Now, 2 years after it was released other manufactures are finally realizing that people want cars like that and are making their fighter cars, but 2 years behind on just coming out with a concept, and then another 2 years for there to be a production car giving the FRS/BRZ a 4 year head start on sales which would likely capture a lot of the market for that sector. If they would have come out all around the same time, I think that each manufacturer, other than toyota and subaru, would have greater sales numbers than they will now.
