Ok, so i have noticed that my car, after driving on the highway , hence at a higher rate of speed, start to shake and sputter like its going to stall after i come to a complete stop. Even if i inch along it wont happen. Only until the car comes to a complete stop and the momentum stops where the car moves back a very small amount, the car begins to shake like its gonna stall. Anyone know what could be the problem ?? The car has stalled on me twice , once today and the other time about a year ago..again, only after driving at highway speeds, like exiting a highway and going on the ramp and thrres a traffic light where u have to come to a complete stop
The car is a 2008 Hyundai Elantra GLS, 4 dr , automatic transmission with about 159,000 miles on it, id say at least 75% of those miles are highway driving.

It's very hard, if not impossible to diagnose car problems on a forum, however, when I have had this happen a couple of times on different vehicles, it has been between 100-150k miles, and eventually died and would not start, due to the failure of the fuel pump. If this turns out to be your problem, and it's the original, you have done well to have it last this long. On the other hand, there are probably 20+ other things it could be related to fuel delivery or smog equipment.
Could be a fuel pump on it's way out. Even an engine sensor like a cam or crank sensor that could be going bad. Way to many things that could cause that issue. And if the issue is not setting a check engine light, then it could be a lot harder for a shop to diagnosis.
1. go to any parts store read error codes. Free.
2. fuel pump
2. EGR valve, needs to be removed and cleaned
3. air leak somewhere. Metal expands hot, leak increases.
4. clogged PCV valve. Locate, pull, clean, reinstall
5. bad plug/-s. When they were replaced?
At any rate, run a can of Seafom through tankful. 2 tankfuls x Seafom each. Cleans entire petrol system, injectors, combustion chambers.
OP,
First guess would be idle air control (IAC) valve. A distant second would be EGR valve.
The IAC can usually be cleaned so it would not necessarily need to be replaced.

Yup, IAC needs cleaning along with the throttle body, I have solved many an idle/stalling issue on vehicles by doing this simple thing.
