I'm not a car expert, and I'd like to respectfully solicit your advice and wisdom.
I'm seriously thinking about trading in my 2012 Honda Civic LX sedan. I'm about to embark on a mid-career change into real estate. I'll be ferrying clients around and I want a somewhat more "upscale" vehicle. Plus, to be honest, I'd like an upgrade anyway just for myself. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, probably no more than $30,000. Less if possible. I strongly prefer new, not pre-owned.
Except for the Civic, I'd be considering mid-level trims on these, however if I can get a good deal on a higher trim, who knows?
I didn't include any actual luxury nameplates. I like the Acura TSX, Audi A3 and BMW 3 series, however new ones are out of my range and I'm really, really, really hesitant to buy used. Really.
I have a personal preference for compact cars just because I live in a congested urban area and I'll be doing lots of parallel parking. Smaller cars have more luck with that. I'm considering a midsize just for more comfort and also perhaps it's a more "professional" look.
Here are some things I value in a car (not necessarily in any order): fuel efficiency, RELIABILITY, firm ride without being harsh (my current Civic is kind of harsh, which bugs the crap out of me), good sound system, decent power, good looks inside and out, well put-together - no rattles or weird noises. Fun to drive would be a bonus, but it's not 100% necessary.
Also, any thoughts on buying vs. leasing would be welcome.
So any thoughts on the above models (or others) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
do yourself a favor and find yourself something like a 2011 lincoln towncar. granted it is a full size car, but you can pick them at reasonable prices, the fuel economy isnt bad, and they are very comfortable cars, especially for clients.
Rent a full-sized car or a SUV when first starting out. When you get a few more client when you are figure out what type of automobile you need to get.
Have you looked into a new Hyundai. There new cars are really nice and less then the 30k budget and I think will even carry a much better warranty, which is always nice. My friend bought a new Kia Optima, and that things is really nice for under 25k. But if you really want something nice, that is fun to drive, check out the chrysler 300. You are right at the 30k mark, and the 3.6 engine puts out almost 300 HP so that car moves, and the interior is really nice as well. Also the new Mercedes CLA is just under 30k, not to sure about the car, but if your looking to impress, well a Mercedes usually says just that.

Yeah. Or maybe a Crown Vic.
People get to focusing on fuel mileage and forget how much they are paying to get that mileage.
hold onto your cash, it's not going to be a lot xoming in at first. You'll be spending much more time on the phone then in your car.
