If you had to choose from the list of vehicles below, which would be your choice..and why? Also open to other suggestions.
2001 7.3l Excursion
2003 Toyota Sequoia
2005 Toyota Sienna
Please keep in mind the following things when choosing a vehicle from the list...
100+ inches of snow per year here
Three Children Under Two Years old
Diesel Tech will be the owner of the vehicle..(repairs mainly limited to parts costs)
Vehicle driven less than 8k miles per year
I'd sooner get the minivan for fuel mileage purposes... but it might depend some on the conditions of the roads in the winter. I live in Buffalo, get plenty of snow (usually over 100 inches a winter), and there is no dire need for a large, high SUV to get around. (I Drive an AWD Charger). That said, if I was in a rural area with inadequate plowing, an Excursion or Sequoia would be on my radar (although I would likely take a Tahoe over either one).
Excursion would be my choice. Snow or any weather hazard, other than sheets of ice, will not be a concern for you. They are TANKS. Fuel expenditure ($$$) will be about 30% more than the Sienna and about on par with the Sequoia. However, it makes the Sequoia look (and feel) like a toy as they are substantially more heavily built. They are enormous however, so keep that in mind.
I'd go with the Excursion myself just because I could pull my big trailers with it if I needed to. Short of that, I'd call it a tossup, although with the amount of snowfally you appear to deal with either of the SUVs are probably a better choice than the van.
What about a Jeep Grand Cherokee? They do make that vehicle in the 3.0 Diesel I believe.
Did you even read the question? Everything on there is between a 10-aolmost 14 yo car. I doubt theyre also looking at brand new $40-50k Jeeps. And nevermind the Jeep has about a half of the cargo capacity as those listed or LESS.
