I've put on 40k mi on this set of Michelin X Radials and it's been through 4 snowstorms this winter and always gave me good handling/braking and just all around a great set of all season tires. I highly recommend this set for those who want long life, handling, and all season performance.
Drove my car through 3-4" of NJ snow, ice and slush, lost traction for a little over ice couple of times but these tires got me where I need to go and back home safe.
I only buy Michelins nowadays. I've tried others over the years and the Michelins have always been the best by far ("Harmony" and "Destiny" most recently; similar, if not identical).
I agree that Michelin is a good tire. I had the Cross Terrain. Great traction on wet roads, and they last around 70k.
Mine wound up cracking on the sidwalls before the tread was worn out. Wish I could still get them. I have Michelin Latitudes on my Jeep, came from the factory. They're ok, but crap off pavement and so-so in the snow. I'll be replacing them with an all terrain, which unfortunately, Michelin doesn't make a decent one. Will probably go with Firestones this time around.
The wife's car has a set of Michelin X-Ice 2s while I have Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRTs on mine. The Michelins seem to give up a bit of snow performance for better dry-pavement performance. I find the Goodyears have better snow performance, which has come in handy over the last few weeks when it has snowed seemingly every other day. I was actually looking to get a set of X-Ice 3s for my car but I couldn't find them in the size I needed and I'm kind of glad for it since the Goodyears I ended up with instead are really good, and probably about 30 bucks cheaper per corner.
