How much do you think the DMV would sell a driver's license IF they allowed you to buy them instead of needing to take the written and driving exams. How much would you pay if you had the chance to buy your driver's license?

Since you do have to pay for them...

[whatever they cost now]

I'd rather take a test and not pay but we have to take tests and pay anyway .

Yes, let's do the German system, but modify it a bit. Just take a $4k course and you get your lic for free. No test per say, but you must be able to drive.

In NY it is all about the fees they collect. Although you have to pass the test, they have a captive audience who they know will want to pass the test and keep trying until they do (and they will).

In essence, they are selling us the license now.

Or be steered into public transportation. I just had a moton in a AUDI cut across 4 freeway lanes , cut across a Painted wide divider from fast lane to carpool lane ( the divider was the width of a actual lane) , jump into the carpool lane cut across again then go back to carpool
Oh and he was alone in the car.

In Virginia, there have been incidents of DMV personnel selling drivers licenses for thousands of dollars. I'm sure it happens in other states as well.

However, it has nothing to with testing or ability to drive, etc. The "buyers" want to use them in criminal activities....financial, immigration, etc.
