I don't need a crew cab because I don't have people to carry, only cargo. I could take out the seat and turn it into a place for storage.

People looking to spend that kind of money will want to buy something new. People that buy used do it to let someone else take the hit.

This truck doesn't appeal to either type of buyer.

USED 2013 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD EXTENDED CAB STANDARD BOX 4-WHEEL DRIVE WORK TRUCK with diesel engine. Has only 29,000 miles on the truck.

2013 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD for sale in Livingston - 1GC2KVC85DZ274474 - Casey's Frontier Chevrolet
I can tell you, as a heavy-duty truck guy, I would not pay $35,000 plus tax and fees for an extended cab short bed gas-powered HD truck that's a year old and has almost 30,000 miles. I might pay that much for a crew cab long bed diesel-powered HD truck of that age and mileage. When I say "might", I mean that I was once offered a brand new 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 dually diesel truck with crew cab and long bed for $30,000 out the door. Okay, that was in 2008, and I know things are a bit different now, but by "a bit different" I sure as heck don't mean that I would accept paying almost 20% more than that for a USED gas-powered 3/4-ton truck with less to offer me besides.

By the way, is that you in the picture?

There is going to be some good deals on 2014 new trucks when the 2015's come out. With a little haggling you mite by able to get the new truck price close to the used trucks price.

I actually had this happen to me. I was looking for a used truck (2-3 years old) and the prices they were asking were with in 10% of a new truck after the deals were made. I purchased new.

I believe you have hit the nail on the head. Most people looking to buy a used truck are looking in a much lower price range. Someone buying that type of truck are going for new trucks because the dealer is willing to make a deal on new vehicles to keep his inventory moving. Higher end, almost new trucks are a hard sell.

Also, those needing a 2500 Heavy Duty can't use a short bed and those wanting a short bed do not need a 2500 Heavy Duty and aren't willing to pay extra for it. Prospective buyers may be staying away because with those wheels and short bed it was probably used by a teenager for off road 4 wheeling so who knows what it went through.

Besides the asking price and the bow tie, those are the two reasons I wouldn't be interested. However, the 6.0 gas engine is not a bad mill. I pull goosenecks and haul cargo with my on a regular basis. For a gas engine it gets it done. It can be purchased and operated for a reasonable rate. Granted it takes a C note to fill the gas tank on my 3/4 ton.

What are you talking about? It certainly doesn't need to be diesel to pull a 5th wheel or any trailer. Plenty of big blocks can haul those trailers around with ease. Sure it is nice to have a diesel, but telling someone it needs to be one is dead wrong!

For around here, it's over priced. You can buy trucks like this all day for about 8 grand less. Even KBB shows it's over priced by 4 grand buying it from a dealer. The tires and wheels, from the pics, look to be worthless for a 4x4. So you're gonna spend another 3-4 grand to get decent wheels and tires for offroad use. The 6.0 is the standard engine in this truck and is a known gas guzzler. Drop the price by 10 grand and maybe someone would buy it. At 35 grand, he's gonna have it a while. His target market is apparently someone with lousy credit that he can pump the interest rate and get his price. That's about the only way I see he's going to move this thing....unless he finds an idiot

First, you can't get a big block anymore. The diesel will get 12 mpg towing, and the gas about 8. While you can tow with gas pulling a 30' + 5th wheel is much easier with diesel and dual rear wheels. Go drive through the trailer parks where the retirees are and you'll see diesel. So, it is a good recommendation to only advise diesel for towing.

My parents have pulled 5th wheels for years and they have been all over the US and Canada and have NEVER had a Diesel...... So no you do not need a diesel to pull a 5th
