That's Red Flag #1 to a buyer like me. What have you got to hide? What if I have trouble with the title later, and you stop answering your phone so I can't contact you. What address am I supposed to give the police?

And that's Red Flag #2 for me. I want my mechanic to be be able to use his test instruments to check out your car and give me an expert opinion on whether to buy it or not. And I'm willing to pay for his time to do that, so you can tell my interest is genuine. With all that, if you can't take the time to come down to his garage long enough for him to do his checks, I'm not willing to take a chance on doing business with you.

But it takes two to tango, and if you're going to act like I'm a problem, then I'll take my money elsewhere.

How do I know your interest is legitimate. How do I know your not planning on coming back to my house later to rob me? When dealing on craigslist, I don't give out my address or my phone number. All communication is done through email, and I've never had a problem buying or selling anything.

Time is money. To ask a seller to take 1-2 hours of of day and sit at your mechanics shop while he inspects it is unreasonable. It's even more unreasonable to ask to take the car with our the owner being there. If you are interested enough in the car you will find a way to get your mechanic there, or find a mobile inspection company that will

Does the Odo read less than 125,300 miles?
