Here's a no cost suggestion for you, go test drive a current pickup truck in a 4 door. Lots of room inside, you sit high, more likely to walk away from a wreck, and fuel mileage will just about equal yer econobox in town. Many are getting 20 mpgs town and mid 20's hiway. I get that with my 4.6 Ford Supercrew. Doesn't cost anything to test drive one and you might just find out why a pickup is the best selling vehicle in the USA.

Mercury Mariner. Same vehicle as Escape inside and engine. Beautiful leather, loaded and great prices. They Quit making them in 2011 or 12, can't remember. But great vehicles, excellent prices if you can find one.
