To the OP, yes, slightly, only because I am in the automotive business.

Sometimes the car and owner pairings bring a smile to me.

Like the lady in Michigan who still fixes her '78 F250 because she loves it.

The old gent in NJ who still has his '88 Town Car limo.

The used car lot owner who only sells Japanese cars but drives a '98 LeSabre.

Just sayin'..........

I generally don't judge people by their car itself, but I will judge someone by the mess that is in the car. I'm not talking about the small messes that come with having kids in your car, I get that. It is when you see fast food bags, soda bottles, paper all over the place, stains, etc. My thought is if their car looks like this, I can't imagine what their house looks like.

I agree and realize that you can't be sure by judging somebody from what car their driving. It could be a rental, there mom's car temporarily, the wife's car, or a friend's, or they could be very poor and have a mercedes. So, I try to live by you never know about a person, even by seeing them in person, seeing there car. You really never know what a person has been through or what's going on with them, so many times we misjudge people and are totally wrong! Really, we never know where a person is coming from before speaking to them.
With that being said, I enjoyed the thread because I love sporty cars and cars in general. I do agree sometimes I can judge a person by what they are driving , but admit this can be very wrong. But, it's a fun topic.

So, saying I could be wrong...I see this sometimes:

Most people driving Bmw's are 'look at me' people and like the show their car off

One woman driving an escalade or another huge SUV is wasting gas and money unecessarily. You don't need that big a vehicle even for 4 kids!

People driving those awful looking smart cars love to save on gas and don't care what others think, but I laugh at everyone I see

Any man driving a mini van I feel sorry for

I love seeing the bumper sticker on a beat down beater that reads. my car may be a piece of junk, but I am storing my treasures up in heaven!

I am shocked if I drive through a poor neighborhood and see Lexus' and Mercedes everywhere

I am certain anybody driving a large 4x4 truck with a loud muffler likes southern rock and hunting

I shake my head at the modified civics with loud mufflers, but forgive them, as I was like this when I was younger too

I laugh, but it upsets me, when I see the sticker "silly boys, trucks are for girls" on a girls truck with a girl driving it, usually it's an suv

What what would you think of the person driving an 3rd generation Acura TL-type S 6 speed manual trans with A spec package (Acura Sport package)??

Don't feel sorry for the guy in the mini van, chances are he's comfortable with who he is and is able to make a vehicle choice based on his needs rather than what other people will think when they see him driving one.

Better to feel sorry for the guy who feels the need to drive some certified "man-mobile" that doesn't suit his needs just to keep up appearances.

LOL, my husband's friend collects Corvette's and this guy is 82, has 1 good lung and keeps his portable oxygen close by, missing teeth but too lazy to get them fixed and he ALWAYS has a young, pretty girlfriend because of his cars he picks them up in the local entertainment area. Usually lets the girls drive and it's a done deal.

It is same as clothing, weather we admit it or not, reality is that unconsciously we all label someone on the car it drives.

Yep, I bought a like new 2004 Chevy Venture from my grandfather who had terminal cancer, and I drove that thing for 7 years. When I bought my Sonata I sold it, even though it was still in "like new" condition. It was very convenient, and there are times I wish I hadn't sold it. I never realized how annoying a trunk could be until I went back to driving a car.

True. You get judged by the clothes you wear, the style of your hair, whether or not you wear makeup, tattoos, etc. You get judged on the house you live in, it's condition AND style, and by the job you do (if people get around to finding out about you).

First impressions are what they are, and we ALL make first impressions of people. A car is, like clothes, often the first thing anyone notices about you.

You can wear clean clothes, but a polo and khakies are going to say something completely different about you than a custom fitted suit and both are going to say something completely different than a T shirt and jeans will. Same with short hair vs long hair, or goth makeup vs glamour makeup or no makeup.

You're going to make a completely different judgment call about this guy:

Than this guy:

Anyone denying that is a liar.

Profits don't go to any nation in particular. They go to shareholders and to management. They go to international capital, which is oblivious to borders or national identity. Ultimately it is irrelevant whether the company's stock is listed on the Nikkei, the DOW, or the DAX.
