Default Problem with 2005 Chevy van

Hi, my problem is, when going up a long hill where I really have to make it work, after a bit the check engine light comes on, and the engine "stumbles", as though it's not getting enough fuel. I have a good mechanic, who changed plugs due to 2 cylinders misfiring. That fixed the problem for about a month, but now it's acting up again. It almost seems vacuum related, as it happens when the engine is really sucking air. Got the 4.3 V6 engine in a half-ton van. Thanks!

If the check engine lite comes on even for a moment it leaves a code. What is the fault or condition recorded in the vans PCM?That would be very helpful in sorting out what the vans doing or not doing.Any chance your Mechanic Has a scan tool ?
