Why dont we go Dutch when driving to stop accidents. (insurance, engine)

Didnt know about how the Dutch have their car door handles in a different position..and isnt a a good idea or wouldnt everyone like it..

Exactly how many "dooring accidents" are there? I don't remember even coming close.
There was a bad one in, I think, Ottawa, a couple of years ago. A woman on her bike was doored into the path of an oncoming car, which then ran her over. I don't remember if she survived.
If you want to see kamikaze, come to London, some, but not all, cyclists appear to have a death wish.

Once, when I was a taxi driver, a guy paid me through my driver's side window, and a £1 coin dropped down by the door sill.
I stopped at a set of lights, checked my door mirror, then cracked the door 3 or 4 centimetres with my left hand, (remember, I'm in London, U.K.), reached down for the coin, holding the door so it could open no further, and as a moped tried to get between me and the bus to my right, his mirror caught the edge of my door, bending it toward him on its swivel, but not breaking it.
He demanded the name of my insurance company, saying that he'd claim for a new, (remember, unbroken), mirror.
I graciously declined, gave him my badge and taxi plate numbers, and suggested that he knocked himself out trying.
I never heard a thing, and this was around 2005.
