It happens almost every time I'm in a parking lot, I see the back up lights on a GM and I'm thinking parking spot, nope just some one hitting the button to lock/unlock their doors, and one of these times I'm going to think there is no one in that car so I'll just keep going, and KER-PLOW I get nailed.....Just sayin'
I always slow way down and cover the horn because it looks like the driver is going to back up any second. Then I notice there is no driver (the driver is almost to the front door of the store), it's just the reverse lights on time delay. Stupid GM.
it's so when you park your car and lock or unlock it at night, the area around the car is illuminated while you leave the car or walk up to enter it. I think it's a GREAT idea. If you ever noticed, the headlights are on, too. I love being able to see around the car when walking from it in the driveway to the front door, or to illuminate the area when walking up to it on a dark street.
Park in the back, avoid door dings, time looking for a spot, and a walk.
I would appreciate it if you did not encourage people to do this. A few others and myself sincerely enjoy not dealing with the "herd" at the front of the parking lot, we like our far away open space and the extra 15 seconds of exercise.

On my Lincoln it had lights on the under side of the mirror for that very reason. Made parking lots a lot less confusing

No kidding! Seeing is good. But GM's GREAT idea makes it look like a running car, in reverse, that's about to back out blind from from the other side of that blacked out Suburban.
So I'm obligated to be extra careful, like I always am when driving near a running car that's in reverse.
Only it's all just a ruse. As I get close enough, I eventually notice that the car that looks like it's running and in reverse isn't running or in reverse, there isn't even a driver in there.
Ghost car!

Some people just need to take a deep breath, and let it out real slow.
