Just read that. What shame. My favorite part of the show was the closing credits, where they thanked people like their Statistician, Marge Inovera and their Russian driver, Pickov Andropov.

Yes, very sad, and a great loss, I agree.

Don't drive like my brother!

Very rarely listened to the show, but would often read their newspaper columns. Didn't know he was sick, but it all makes sense as to why they 'retired' a few years ago.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that Tom died. It's always sad to lose someone so intelligent, informative, and entertaining. I love Car Talk. I've listened to it almost every weekend for the last 25 years.

From the law firm of Dewey, Cheetham, and Howe!

R.I.P. - he and his brother have provided me a lot of entertainment over the years. I was listening to NPR this afternoon and I heard the news. I was immediately sadden when I heard the announcement.

Yeah, it's a shame. I figured they were much younger. I listen to them whenever I can, and they crack me up. No local station here carries them, so I can only listen every other week when I'm in another town.

I heard it at the same time I think...

And like a commenter said, while very sad about his passing, I was actually laughing and having a good time listening to recordings from the show.

He was funny - without really being funny. His jokes were not great, his commentary was almost predictable, but he was so joyful in his delivery, that you had to laugh along with him.

RIP indeed.

I'll be the black sheep here, but some of their advice given was total rubbish. I don't think either one of these guys seen under a hood since LBJ was in office.
