Techron is good to use every now and then but if you use premium gas you can do without the use of fuel treatments.

Here's the info on a 420 code
P0420 Error Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

Most exhaust shops will test the cats for free with a laser probe checking for abnormal/high temps in the converter. If you've never changed the O2 sensors, they should be replaced every 100,000 miles for optimum service. ALWAYS replace O2 sensors with OEM parts for best fuel mileage and service.
