I guess the world has just become a noisier place while I was dozing in "Old Buick Land".
The American makers got the idea that they could charge more for their cars, if they went after BMW and Mercedes in terms of sporty ride and firm handling. The result was poor sales and catastrophic resale value, so hopefully the pendulum will swing back the other way a little. In the meantime the old fharts have been buying Camrys and Lexus ES.

You need to at least test drive an E-class. Mercedes offers an outstanding certified pre-owned package that includes an unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty for 5 years from the original in service date as well as free two-year prepaid maintenance. You can easily find one in the $30k range, and it puts every Lincoln or Buick you ever drove to shame.

More than two years old but quite easy to find with low mileage. Roomy, comfortable, and decent performance. Generally under $20,000. Rather appealing to look at as well from my vantage.

The Hyundai Genesis sedans are very nice, spacious, and quiet, definitely worth a look at.

This X 1000. The 300 is exactly the epitome of big and comfy.

There's an old Lincoln in the garage next door. The man there died and his niece bought the house. She might be willing to sell, but we're in Las Vegas. I have no idea of the age or condition. I just caught a glance. I could ask the next time they're in town.

I would second this. I have heard some people call the Avalon the "Japalac" LOL

Third. Our Realtor had a hybrid. I sat in back and there was plenty of legroom. Smooth, quiet. I noticed no problems accessing a freeway, and the appointments are exceptional.

The Mrs talks about a Prius, I talk about an Avalon Hybrid. Slightly less mileage, but the same features are only about 1-1.5k. The comparison in quality isn't worth mentioning.

I have a new Buick Verano and it is an extremely quiet, smooth, and comfortable driving car.
