It's pretty unimportant to me unless, like the OP's example, it's really bazaar and fugly. When I bought my previous truck several years ago the salesman asked if I had any color preferences. I said no, anything but white. When we went out to the lot to look over the selection, the only one with the options I wanted was white and I took it. Last week, after 14 years, we finally replaced it. We first looked at a 2013 that was a deep blue, my wife's favorite color. We both liked it, but then we decided we'd get a new one. My wife said anything but white. The only thing the dealer had in the model I wanted was white. We got white again.
I'm fortunate, I buy what I like, not necessarily what I need or can buy cheapest. Color is very important to me as does the entire appearance of the vehicle. Like they say, you only get one shot at a good first impression.
I must agree. My last SUV was a 2011 white Mazda CX-7. I hated the car. It drove fine but there were a couple of minor things that bothered me about it, the major one being that it was WHITE. Every day I drove it I wished I had bought a black car, and I still owed a ton of money on the note.
Then one day, a miracle happened. I filed for divorce and dumped the CX-7 on my soon to be ex-husband. He didn't want the car either and tried to force me to keep it, but since it was in his name, I made him take it. I bought a Toyota RAV 4 that is black like my SUV before the CX-7, and I love the car. It's not just because it's black, but that is a big part of it too.
You couldn't give me enough of a discount to drive a puke green car. I've also noticed new cars in these weird blue grey shades, and also some in a brownish maroonish goldish color. They are all just horribly ugly looking. I don't know what's wrong with car manufacturers bringing back primary colored cars. Newer isn't necessarily better.

Generally, if it ain't black, if it ain't red, I don't want it. I hate blue, I hate white, I hate the creams & golds, no pirple, green can be tolerable.
I only drive black vehicles. It's been that way for 20 years, don't see myself changing anytime soon. Would not ever drive a puke green car, even thousands cheaper.
Pea soup green? Hell no! It could be free and I wouldn't take it. I love black and charcoal vehicles. My last one was blue because they couldn't get me my packages in any other color within 500 miles so I dealt with it. It was easy to find in a parking! The whooooole world knew I was coming. I am soooo happy to back to black. Would NEVER take a white vehicle either. Too hard to see them in rain and the 80 billion feet of snow we get here.
That's not THAT bad... if color doesn't bother you that much, then go for it. If it was a good enough deal I'd look to buy it if I was in the market. At the end of the day, it's still a Lexus and will hold value well.
My next one will be a lighter color. While I love my navy blue metallic color, it's just too darned aggravating trying to keep the swirl marks buffed out.
That is one ugly car. Buying an ugly color may save money on the purchase but will probably also be worth less when you sell it. I don't think it's worth it unless you're struggling to buy the vehicle or plan to drive it into the ground for business.
I like to keep vehicles forever so I buy what I like and want to live with for awhile.
