I would say that the vast majority of people over 25 have a license and own a car. Sure in major cities like NY and Chicago you have a solid mass transit system and can get by without one but that would be in the top 30ish cities and not the rule. As an example, here in San Antonio you could "get by" without a car but trips to and from work would be a 2hr adventure on the bus. There is no subway or light rail system.
You may want to do a Google Earth of NYC and try to find a parking spot.
Most of the people I know got their drivers license when they were 16 years old. I started driving when I was 14. worked on a car lot and had to drive the cars. LOL
I have a drivers license and one of those flying licenses as well. LOL
The most cars I have owned at one time was 6. Well two of the 6 were trucks and that was when I was young and single. At the time I had a 71 Olds Cutless, 65 VW Beetle, A very fast 1973 Ford Pinto that had a 427 Cobra Jet Powering it, a 1977 Ford Thunderbird that my dad had given me, 1980 Chevy LUV pickup truck, think mini truck craze here with the lowered body stance, custom wheels, nice paint, and lastly a 1979 Ford F150 that was given to me for a job that I had done.
Other toys that I had was a 1977 Mooney 201 Airplane, a 24 foot Oday sailboat, a Yamaha TT500 Dirt bike, a Honda 125, and a BMW R75 that I had inherited.
Everyone I know growing up was at the DMV office on their 16th birthday.
I grew up around the car business and was moving cars around the lot at age 12...
I mastered parking before I ever drove about 5 mph!
Today... I own over 50 vehicles... half insured and the other half future projects.
