With all the radar systems being installed in cars for safety reasons such as blind spot monitors, lane departure warning systems, back up cameras and the like , what about a tailgater warning system that warns cars that are tailgating that they are following too close or maybe the car that is being tailgated having some kind of light flashing warning system warning the tailgater to back off?

Do you think anything like that is feasible in the near future?

I think it would get pretty annoying in stop and go traffic, it would have to only work at speeds over 60mph or something.

Fully adaptable cruise control basically serves that purpose.

Another thing they can do is install such equipment in the rear of an unmarked van along with a camera to catch people tailgating and send them a ticket in the mail!

A police rolling tailgater catcher.

How about keeping to the right lane if you're slow? Cheaper and instant fix.

I like the idea of a rolling police tailgater catcher.

I rigged up a "tailgate slimer" using a gallon jug, some rubber tubing, a nozzle and a windshield washer pump. I mounted it on the tailgate of my pickup, and when some lunatic rides my bumper I spray him down.
